Forms and Shapes of Tubes

Tubes: – They are round cylindrical shaped long tubes used to safely carry high-pressure content from one place to another, through various stressful environments. They made from various types of metals grades, using different methods and shapes as follows:-

Seamless Tubes:- – Unlike normal Tubes, Seamless Tubes are without seam and weld, hence can withstand high pressure, high amount of mechanical stress. It’s an ideal choice to carry high-pressure liquid and gas. We also have them in different shapes like – Square Seamless Tubes, Rectangular Seamless Tubes, and Round Seamless Tubes.

Welded Tubes:- Due to the weld seam which it possesses Welded Pipe exhibits lower operating pressure, as compared to Seamless Tubes. But on the other hand, they possess tighter dimension tolerance then seamless Tubes. We also have them in different shapes like – Square Welded Tubes, Rectangular Welded Tubes, and Round Welded Tubes

ERW Tubes (Electric Resistance Tubes):-They are made from HR strip/coil by rolling down the metal and welding them longitudinally along the length, so as to achieve higher diameter. We also have them in different shapes like – Square ERW Tubes, Rectangular ERW Tubes, and Round ERW Tubes.

EFW Tubes (External High-Frequency Welded Tubes) or HFW Tubes (High-Frequency Welded Tubes):- In HFW Tubes, high-Frequency current is used to make weld to circularly rolled sheets. And in EFW Tubes, External High Energy electric arc is used to create weld to circularly rolled sheets.
We also have them in different shapes like – Square EFW Tubes, Rectangular EFW Tubes, and Round EFW Tubes, Square HFW Tubes, Rectangular HFW Tubes, and Round HFW Tubes.

SAW Tubes (Submerged Arc Welding Tubes):-  In this method of making Single seam SAW Tubes, the welding arc is submerged in welding flux and the rolled sheets or coils are welded first from inside and then from outside.
In Double Seam SAW Tubes, two half are joined using tack-weld also know as fit-up. After two-welded-seam opposite of each other are used simultaneously both from inside as well as outside. This method is used for high thickness Tubes or multiple pass welding Tubes.
In Spiral Welded SAW Tubes, a steel sheet is rolled in form of circular loops which are then welded both from inside and outside. Spiral Weld Tubes are usually applicable in low-pressure applications and hence cheaper than straight SAW Tubes. This method helps in manufacturing welded Tubes of varied sizes.

Duplex 2205 alloy is equally ferritic and austenitic in nature, and hence a widely used grade of Stainless Steel. It consists of 22% Cr and 3% Mo, 5 to 6% Ni alloyed stainless steel. Super Duplex UNS S32750 is equally ferritic and austenitic in nature and consist of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. It has a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of >41 with excellent mechanical properties. Super Duplex S32750 provides excellent resistance towards chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion in almost all corrosive media. Super Duplex UNS S32760 contains 25% Chromium, 4% Molybdenum, and 7% Nickel with the addition of Copper and Tungsten. This composition helps in excellent corrosion resistance, designed for acid leach mining applications and other industries where sulfuric acid environments. Super Duplex UNS S32760 displays yield strength which is twice of 300 series SS. UNS S32760 is most cost-effective than any other nickel alloys.

SMO UNS S31254 Tube is a super austenitic stainless steel alloy, with very high-end molybdenum and nitrogen content with low carbon content. Since it has Low carbon, hence less chance of carbide precipitation during heating. It exhibits good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, very high resistance to chloride stress, corrosion cracking, Excellent impact toughness, and high ductility, Excellent workability and weldability.

It possesses a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity. Also provides good general corrosion resistance and sulfide stress corrosion resistance. It is 50% stronger than 300-series austenitic stainless steels and has a Pitting Resistance Equivalent (PREN) of > 42.5.
